Christmas for the Natives is a family-led humanitarian mission created by Ernelita Dacumos, an international speaker, confidence mentor, and founder of Confidently You LLC. Through the Community Pay It Forward Mission Partner Program, we proudly support her work to bring safety, joy, and opportunity to more than nine hundred Aeta children living in the remote mountain communities of Iram, Philippines.
These children face challenges far beyond what most American children ever experience. Many hike forty‑five minutes to three hours one way to reach school. They cross rivers, climb through mud, and navigate steep mountain trails — often barefoot because their families cannot afford shoes. Some arrive at school with no food and hide behind the building during lunch so classmates will not see that they have nothing to eat. School is their safe place. It is where they socialize, feel joy, and get to be kids.
Ernelita’s mission began with fifty small bags of candy. Today it has grown into an annual outreach providing backpacks, toys, slippers, shoes, food packs, school supplies, and hope. Her work has helped reduce school dropouts to zero for the first time in five years. She personally travels from the United States to the Philippines every year, waking at three in the morning to decorate the school, prepare food, organize games, and distribute supplies. This mission is not political and not driven by organizations seeking credit. It is a pure act of love rooted in relationships with teachers who once walked the same mountain paths and now work tirelessly to support their students.
Through the Come Together Cub Club, families, schools, churches, and businesses across the United States can join Steps of Hope and help us reach our national goals for the next school year: one thousand pairs of new shoes, one thousand complete school bag packs, three thousand pairs of socks, and two thousand books. These items protect children on dangerous trails, support their education, and give them the same excitement we felt when we received new clothes and school supplies.
The greatest challenge is raising the twenty thousand dollars needed to serve all nine hundred children while managing the cost of purchasing, packing, shipping, and transporting supplies into the mountains. The outcome that would make the biggest difference is reaching that full goal and securing committed partners who can help with supplies, shipping, transportation, and long‑term sustainability.
Every business transaction with a Community Pay It Forward Giving Partner can support this mission. Every collection box filled with shoes, supplies, snacks, and books makes a difference. Every shared story inspires someone else to help. A small action creates a large impact. A transaction with purpose creates impact for a mission you love.
You are not helping us. You are helping these kids. And together, we will make sure no child is left behind.
Families, supporters, and community members can connect with Christmas for the Natives directly through the Community Pay It Forward Come Together Cub Club page, where they can learn about the mission, explore programs, meet the team, and support ongoing needs. Individuals can participate by sponsoring students, donating supplies, contributing to shipping costs, or sharing the mission with others.
Supporters can strengthen the outreach by selecting Christmas for the Natives when submitting receipts from any Giving Partner through Community Pay It Forward. Every receipt becomes direct support that helps fund meals, school supplies, teacher resources, facility improvements, transportation, and educational programs that empower children and strengthen the community.
Because Community Pay It Forward has created a dedicated event for this mission, we will accept cash donations specifically for the shipping of donated items. All other financial contributions should be made directly to the mission. Your generosity ensures every child supported by Christmas for the Natives receives the education, stability, and hope they deserve.
If you would like to make a direct donation to the mission itself, we will gladly introduce you to Ernelita, or you can visit her organization online at Confidently You LLC.

On April 9, 2011 my wife was watching our 3-year-old son (Bladyn) and our 5-year-old daughter (Raven) while I was at work. After playing all morning in the yard, my wife put our son down for a nap (It’s important to point out that my wife was suffering from pneumonia at this time). Bladyn did not want to take a nap so he began to run around our property (3 acres) in protest. After making a lap and 1/4, my wife noticed that he had gotten out of the yard because he vanished behind the barn.

Hero, warrior, Riley Heasley lost his battle to PKAN on July 16, 2019. Pantothenate kinase-associated neurodegeneration (PKAN) is a rare neurologic disease that affects both children and adults. People with PKAN lack a chemical necessary to metabolize a vitamin in the brain. Without normal levels of this metabolite, part of the brain degenerates, causing severe problems with walking, coordination, vision, speech and swallowing. The illness is particularly cruel in childhood, when uncontrollable twisting movements can be extreme, causing pain and even bone fractures. Awareness is not affected, making the suffering imposed by the disease especially poignant. Many children with PKAN die before the age of 10. Riley was coming up on his 11th birthday.
Community Pay it Forward is honored by the Heasley Family for them allowing us to continue to assist them raising money in Rileys name. Erin and Janis trust in Spoonbill. And Spoonbill is making strides. We ask you to consider uploading your receipt to their cause, in memory of Riley and all the children who have fought this awful affliction, and given their lives to teach the doctors how to cure others so their lives can be saved.
